Product Description
We often wish we had a wise owl perching on our monitors and able to dole out sage workplace advice when needed. Handy tips like “Joe is making double your salary with the same job description as you”… or “only one donut left in the kitchen” would certainly be helpful. However, this USB Robot Owl does nothing of the sort.
Imported from Japan the USB Robot Owl blinks his eyes and turns his head from side to side in a quizzical manner… almost to say “I’m damn cute and I know it”. Plug him into any handy USB port and he can perch on top of your laptop with the included clip, or set him on top of his comfortable stump. Push the button on the back to choose from three owlish moods; Active, Mellow, or Sleeping.

I thought it was cool because it was a USB owl. What more reason did I need?
It does seem a teensy bit fragile. It makes a little gear noise when it moves its head. As a novelty item, it is pretty cool.

I love this product — when it works. I bought a brown one that is a delight to watch. With that in mind, I bought a second one, this one white, for my office computer. It’s eyes only opened partially, failing at one of only two things this toy does. I sent it back for a replacement and found the same lazy eye problem. I’m exchanging it one more time and if the replacement has the same issue, then there’s a bad lot to avoid. Maybe I’ll go back to the brown one….
BTW, forget about clipping it to a desktop monitor; the clip is too small to fit over a flat panal monitor (but it probably works with a laptop, although I’ve never tried).

This little owl is very cute and fun! It just plugs into the USB port and blinks and moves its head around. Definitely a good buy.

My USB owl has been a delight since I ordered it. When my husband first found out that I spent $20 + shipping on the little robot owl, he rolled his eyes and commented on its uselessness. However, after bringing my little owl to work, he has helped me increase my productivity tenfold. It’s hard to slack off with a bird known for its high intelligence constantly looking at you and cocking its head from side to side. Sometimes I’ll be writing an email, and TootsiePop (my owl) will cock his head and blink really fast, and I’ll know that I wrote something stupid. Other times he’ll just doze off, and I’ll know that my ideas aren’t thrilling enough. I swear, he can read my mind.
