It retracts fine, just can’t keep it open. It won’t stay extended. Why would any company make/sell/ship a product that doesn’t work brand new??

An observation – I have been using Zero Chargers lately. These USB chargers shut off when there is no device plugged in to them in order to save energy. I am also using them because they have higher outputs for the ipad. Please no comments, I am trying these gadgets.
Anyway, when using this cable the zero charger does not seem activate to work on kindle, headsets, anything. Using this cable with any standard USB charger I have seems to work just fine. I could speculate as to the problem but I don’t actually know so I can only report this observation.
