This is a very cool solar charger for my iPhone. At just 2″ X 2″ and the thickness of my iPhone, this baby is so convenient! It took me almost 3 hours to solar charge in the bright sunlight (device states 2-1/2 hours), so that will vary. It charged via the USB port on my computer in a little over an hour.
*This device is compatible with all three versions of iPhone (1st, 2nd and 3GS).
*Charges your iPhone quickly just by the slot connection.
*You can charge the phone AND battery at the same time (face of iPhone is turned under away from sunlight).
*All data from your iTunes PC can be uploaded to iPhone (This I have not tried yet. Seems to be a tricky maneuver).
What I really like about this inexpensive device is that I can take it anywhere – camping, traveling, anywhere there is sun and charge it over and over again. No need to bring my iPhone electrical wall socket charger anymore. However, I would recommend you solar charge the unit separated from your iPhone. I don’t want to know what happens when your iPhone gets too hot from sunlight. “Hermes” is the only company I found that has a USB male connector with the kit. With my female/female USB connector, I can charge my Plantronics Bluetooth device as well.
I’ve found that the charge lasts for at least a week.
Caution: This product is Apple compatible, but is manufactured by Hermes Distribution (an international IT production company). If something happens that damages your iPhone, Apple will not honor any guarantee or warranty from a third party manufacturer. That goes with any non-Apple device. I still trust this device.
