This is a passive adapter, so it will not do anything for USB devices that do not also have support for PS2 type keyboard or mouse interfaces. Amazon’s descriptions do not state this, but the product description at Cables Unlimited does. I had to get it and try it for myself, and it didn’t work for my keyboard. So the 3 stars is for not knowing whether it works or not.

While it was in once piece it worked fine, but after apply about 2 pounds of horizontal pressure the PS/2 end of the device detached and became lodged in the PC it was used in.

As stated in the other reviews, this is a passive adapter, so it will not work with USB devices that do not have support for a PS2 mice and keyboards. I purchased this device to connect my old faithful PS2 keyboard to my laptop that has close together keys, the connectors for the adapter and keyboard were both male. Amazon’s descriptions is not clear enough to ensure the novice will not end up with a useless device.

Since this is a passive adapter it will only function with keyboards and mice that are compatible with both USB and PS/2 connections. When I purchased this it didn’t mention it was passive on amazon, though it does say that now.
Good to have around just in case and doesn’t cost much.
